MANCHESTER, N.H. - Freshman Cierra Romaldo (Chuluota,
Fla.) and sophomore Chelsea Fillingim (Fairbanks, Alaska) scored
two goals apiece Friday afternoon to lead Saint Anselm College to a
7-2 victory over Plymouth State University in an ECAC Women's East
ice hockey game at Sullivan Arena.
The Hawks led 3-0 after the first period on one goal by Fillingim
and two by Romaldo. Sophomore Elizabeth
Murray (Woburn, Mass.) put the Panthers on the board a
minute and 32 seconds into the second period, but freshmen Bridget
Sylvester (Randolph, N.J.) and Michele Lacombe (Delafield, Wisc.)
and Fillingim tallied consecutive goals for Saint Anselm to give
the home team an insurmountable 6-1 lead.
Freshman Danielle Shea (Billerica, Mass.) scored
PSU's second goal late in the second period, and senior Kelsey
Johnson (Byfield, Mass.) rounded out the scoring for the Hawks
midway through the final frame.
PSU senior goalie Lindsay DeLorie (Holliston,
Mass./Newton Country Day) played well for the Panthers, finishing
with 43 saves, including 22 in the second period. Sophomore
Jen Taylor (Canadaigua, N.Y.) got the win in goal for Saint Anselm,
making eight saves.
Plymouth State, 0-3-0, is back on the ice Saturday with another
ECAC East contest at New England College (1:00 p.m.) Saint
Anselm, 5-1-0, will be home again on Saturday, hosting Southern
Maine in a conference match-up at 1:00 p.m.
