WATERVILLE VALLEY, N.H. - The Saint Anselm College
women's ice hockey team remained undefeated in ECAC East Conference
play Friday night with an easy 8-0 victory over Plymouth State
University at Waterville Valley Ice Arena.
Junior Samantha
Rowe (Chelmsford, Mass.) led the Hawks with two goals and an
assist, and sophomore Daniella Lyons (Greene, Maine) and senior
Arden Lyons (Westford, Mass.) collected three assists apiece.
The Hawks improved to 17-1-0 overall and 13-0-0 in conference play,
while PSU is at the other end of the standings, dropping to 0-13-1
overall and 0-11-1 in the ECAC East.
The Hawks had a
dominating 80-9 advantage in shots on goal. PSU junior goalie
Lindsay DeLorie (Holliston, Mass.) had another
outstanding night in the Panther goal, finishing with 72 saves, her
second 70-+ save performance of the season. Freshman goalie
Carley Berry (Danvers, Mass.) needed to make just nine saves to
post the shutout for the winners.
Saint Anselm
scored a pair of power play goals late in the first period off the
sticks of freshman Alexa Hingston (Charlestown, Mass.) and junior
Maggie Dwyer (Elkridge, Md.). Rowe made it 3-0 in the first
minute of the second period, and junior Kelsey Johnson (Byfield,
Mass.) added a power play goal two minutes later to extend the
margin to 4-0. Rowe knocked in her second of the game at the 16:35
mark to make it 5-0 after two periods.
Junior Kathleen
Twomey (Londonderry, N.H.) and sophomore Maria Dougherty
(Middletown, R.I.) rounded out the scoring for the Hawks, scoring
goals at 13:49 and 18:40 of the third period.
Both teams are
right back into action with league games on Saturday at 2:00 p.m.,
Saint Anselm traveling to Castleton State College and PSU hosting
UMass Boston.
