WATERVILLE VALLEY, N.H. - Freshman Jackie Solomito (Sea
Cliff, N.Y.) scored two goals Friday night to lead Manhattanville
College to a 7-0 victory over Plymouth State University in an ECAC
Women's East Conference ice hockey game at Waterville Valley Arena.
Sophomore Holly
Nonis (Brampton, Ont.) added a goal and three assists for the
Valiants, who are ranked ninth in the nation in Division III, and
classmate Shannon Coffey (Malden, Mass.) contributed a goal and two
assists. Manhattanville, which leads the ECAC East, improves
to 15-3-0 overall and 13-2-0 in conference play, while PSU falls to
0-15-0 and 0-12-0.
The Valiants
put the game away with a five-goal outburst in the opening
period. Solomito and sophomore Jess Scioli (North Reading,
Mass.) tallied goals in the first three minutes, and Coffey
followed with a power play goal at 7:43. Nonis connected at
the 10:15 mark, and sophomore Michelle Kaufman (Irvine, Calif.)
made it 5-0 at 14:34.
Junior Sarah
Fullerton (Port Tobacco, Mass.) scored the only goal of the second
period for the Valiants, and Solomito rounded out the scoring with
a power play goal midway through the final stanza.
Manhattanville
finished with a 45-9 advantage in shots on goal. Senior
Lindsay DeLorie (Holliston, Mass.) made 38 saves for PSU, while
freshman Kimmy Flanders (Monson, Mass.) recorded the shutout for
the Valiants with nine saves.
Plymouth State
has another home game on Saturday, hosting MIT at 2:00 p.m.
Manhattanville continues its weekend road trip with a 3:00 p.m.
face-off at Southern Maine.
