BRUNSWICK, Maine - Ten different players scored as the
Bowdoin College women's ice hockey team continued its recent
offensive outburst Tuesday evening in a 15-0 win over Plymouth
State University. The Polar Bears have outscored their opponents
22-0 over the last two games and improve to 9-7-2 overall this
year. The Panthers fall to 0-17-0 with the loss.
The Polar Bears
did not waste any time and struck first less than two minutes into
the game. Kayte Holtz found a wide open Kim Tess-Wanat who fired an
uncontested shot past the top right shoulder of Panthers'
goaltender, Nicole Provencher, at 1:52. Katie
Herter tallied the next score after Stephanie Ludy found her
streaking into the slot at 7:43.
Less than a
minute later, Holtz fired a one-timer past Provencher on a pass
from Jill Campbell. After killing a penalty the Polar Bears quickly
worked the puck down the ice and 18 found Holtz who then settled
the aerial pass and walked untouched in the PSU zone to beat
Provencher. Kenzie Novak tallied the last of the period on a
pass from Kate Pokrass.
Kendra Sweet's
first goal of the season started the second period scoring for
Bowdoin and opened a flurry of scoring as the Polar Bears posted
eight in the second stanza. Tess-Wanat, Shana Natelson, Alex
Chlebeck, Novak, Dominique Lozzi and Kate Pokrass also scored in
the frame while Holtz rounded out her hat trick. Bowdoin capped the
night with a pair of third-period scores from Stephanie Ludy.
Holtz finished
with three goals and an assist while Jill Campbell notched four
assists for the hosts. WTara Connolly earned her first collegiate
win and shutout by making four saves. Provencher stopped 34 in the
loss for Plymouth State.
