Box Score Panthers continue streak of scoring two
goals
HENNIKER, N.H. – Five different players scored goals
for the New England College women's ice hockey team Saturday
afternoon as the Pilgrims defeated the Panthers of Plymouth State
University, 6-2, in ECAC East action at Lee Clement
Arena.
Sophomore Kate Kellar (Pittsfield, Mass.) led the way for the
Pilgrims with two goals, and senior Rachel White (Arlington, Mass.)
collected three assists. Freshmen Brittany
Oliver (Bobcaygeon, Ont.) and Rebecca
Fogg (White River Jct., Vt.) scored goals for the
Panthers, who continued their string of scoring exactly two goals
in a game, which they have done in every game this season. The
Pilgrims improve to 3-3-0 overall and 3-1 in ECAC East action,
while the Panthers drops to 0-4-1 overall and in ECAC East
play.
Kellar opened the scoring for the Pilgrims 13:29 into the
game. NEC would carry the 1-0 lead into the second frame,
when Oliver tallied the first goal for Plymouth State 28 seconds
into the period on a power play. Junior Bri
Davis (Framingham, Mass.) and freshman Stephanie
Newmark (Sydney, Australia) assisted on the goal.
The Pilgrims regained the lead just 1:32 later on Kellar's
second goal of the game. Sophomore Stephanie Spera
(Stoughton, Mass.) added another Pilgrim goal a minute later to
extend the margin to 3-1, and classmate Alyssa Hoot (Waterville,
Ohio) tallied an unassisted marker at the 19:02 mark to round out
the second period scoring.
The two teams would play scoreless for much of the third period
until Kristin Dehm (Milford, Conn.) found the net for NEC at the
16:08 mark. The Panthers answered with a goal of their own
just under three minutes later, as Fogg connected on passes from
Claire Ficaro (Manchester, N.H.) and
Allison Collins (Murrieta, Calif.). NEC
rounded out scoring with one second left in the game as Chelsie
Boroski (Sterling Heights, Mich.) recorded the unassisted
power-play goal.
Junior Teraysa White (Belgrade, Maine) earned the win in net for
the Pilgrims and recorded nine saves. Freshman Ali
Ponte (Richmond Hill, Ontario) made 43 saves for the
Panthers.
Both teams return to the ice for conference action on Friday, Dec.
3, when NEC visits Nichols College for a 7:40 p.m. and Plymouth
