NEWRY, Maine - The Plymouth State University men's ski
team had two All-Americans and finished in third place out of 21
schools in the team slalom standings Saturday at the United States
Collegiate Ski and Snowboard Association (USCSA) National
Championships at Sunday River Resort.
Junior Peter Ostroski (Intervale, N.H./Kennett)
and freshman Chris Beadon (Ridgefield, Conn.)
earned Second Team All-American recognition by finishing in
10th and 11th place, respectively, out of 120
racers. Ostroski (near right) was in third place
after one run and posted the 15th fastest time in the
second run to finish 10th, and Beadon (far
right) was 14th after one run and moved up to
11th with the eighth-best time on the second
attempt. Ostroski is now a career nine-time All-America in
alpine, and Beadon is a three-time All-America selection. They
shared the Eastern Regional combined alpine title last month.
Freshman Parker Spear (Sodus Point, N.Y.) was
PSU's third finisher, placing 16th, one spot off the
All-America Team. He was also the team's third finisher on
Thursday in the giant slalom when he came in 26th
place. Also posting strong races for PSU were senior
Chris Carlucci (Mahopac, N.Y.) in 27th
place and junior Travis Nevins (Henniker,
N.H./John Stark) in 36th.
Westminster College (Utah) captured the team championship, with
perennial power Sierra Nevada College finishing runner-up and
Plymouth State the top eastern school in third place. Rocky
Mountain College was fourth and Colby-Sawyer College fifth.
