LYME, N.H. – Plymouth State University senior
Max Haussmann (Reutingen, Germany) battled through steady rain to secure a 17th-place finish in the men's slalom at the 2025 National Collegiate Skiing Championships at Dartmouth Skiway on Wednesday.
Haussmann clocked a first-run time of 42.64 seconds, placing 10th in a highly competitive field and sitting just a half-second out of a top-five spot. Continued rain and fog resulted in deteriorating course conditions during the second run, which saw four skiers fail to finish. Haussmann, the 24th skier to hit the course for the second run, followed up with a time of 46.34 seconds, finishing with a combined time of 1:28.98 to claim 17th overall.
Haussmann's performance extends his strong history at the national championship. Competing for the third straight year, his 17th-place showing marks the fifth-best men's slalom performance in program history. He remains the owner of the best slalom finish at the National Collegiate Championships after placing seventh in 2023, a mark that stands as the best finish for a Plymouth State men's skier in either discipline at the national level.
After a break for the Nordic 7.5K Classic, Haussmann and the alpine skiers return to competition on Friday (March 7) for the giant slalom. The men's first run is slated for 10:25 a.m., with second runs scheduled for 1:25 p.m.
