Box Score Panthers blanked for only fourth time this
season
WORCESTER, Mass. – Senior Jocelyn Kratchmer
(Watrous, Saskatchewan) scored a hat trick, while sophomores
Caroline English (Dorchester, Mass.) and Alex Campione (Townsend,
Mass.) each netted a pair of goals Wednesday evening to lead the
Holy Cross women's ice hockey team to a 9-0 victory over Plymouth
State University at the Hart Center.
After going on a power play at the three minute mark of the first
period, Kratchmer took advantage of the extra skater to score the
first goal of the game. Senior Emily Henry (Lumsden, Saskatchewan)
and English hooked up to find Kratchmer at the top of the crease
for the score. The Crusaders scored again when sophomore Meghan
Reynolds (Marion, Mass.) recovered Campione's rebounding shot at
the 14:18 mark to send Holy Cross to the locker room with a
two-goal lead.
The Crusaders scored six goals in the second period to take an 8-0
lead. Holy Cross' flurry of goals were paced by Kratchmer and
English, each scoring two. Campione added her second goal of the
night at the 5:36 mark in the third period to end the game in favor
of Holy Cross, 9-0.
Junior Stacey Hochkins (New Boston, Mich.) assisted on four goals,
giving her 34 points for the season and breaking the Holy Cross
career points record with 131 career points.
Holy Cross senior goaltender Monique Gallant (Antigonish, Nova
Scotia) earned her sixth win of the season, turning away 16 shots
en route to her second shutout of the campaign. Plymouth State's
Nicole Provencher (Guilford, Conn.) and
Ali Ponte (Richmond Hill, Ont.) combined for time
in the Panther net.
The Panthers, 0-17-1 overall and 0-12-1 in the ECAC East, is idle
until next Wednesday, Feb. 2, when they travel to Norwich
University for a conference clash. Holy Cross, 13-6-0 overall
and 10-2-0 in ECAC East play, returns to the Hart Center this
Saturday when it hosts Salve Regina in ECAC East action.
