PSU Softball bounced from Little East Tournament by Eastern Conn.

Panthers manage just four hits in elimination game

            MANSFIELD, Conn. – Alyssa Hancock hit two home runs and knocked in three Friday morning as top-seeded Eastern Connecticut State University eliminated fourth-seeded Plymouth State University from the Little East Conference softball tournament with a 12-0 five-inning victory at the ECSU Softball Stadium.

            The Warriors plated two runs in the first, third and fourth innings before ending the game with a six-run outburst in the fifth inning. Eastern scored 12 runs on 12 hits, while PSU managed just four hits in the game, a double by sophomore Emma Rhodes (Rochester, N.H.) and singles by junior Nicole Abreu (Hudson, N.H.), sophomore Rachel Morrissey (Salem, N.H.) and freshman Nina Murray (Saugus, Mass.)

            Eastern Conn. remains undefeated in the tournament after two games, with the schedule unfolding as the tournament progresses. PSU, which tied for third in the LEC in the regular season, completes its year at 13-21.
