PLYMOUTH, N.H. – Five members of the Plymouth State University softball program were honored by College Sports Communicators for their academic achievements on Tuesday, as the CSC Academic All-District Teams were announced.
Seniors
Kenzie Bessette (Cranston, R.I.),
Emily Bessette (Cranston, R.I.), and
Kiera Larson (Glenwood Springs, Colo.), junior
Kennedy Michaud (Auburn, N.H.), and sophomore
Eva Zuber (Lakeville, Mass.) were each recognized.
Academic All-District honorees are considered for advancement to the CSC Academic All-America ballot, where First-, second- and third-team Academic All-America honorees will be announced in mid-June.
To be eligible for Academic All-District recognition, a student-athlete must be at least a sophomore academically and athletically and must maintain at least a 3.50 cumulative grade point average. Student-athletes must also compete in 90 percent or start in at least 66 percent of an institution's games played, while pitchers must have made at least 17 appearances or pitched 35 innings. Institutions are limited to a maximum of five nominees.
Under the direction of fifth-year head coach
Mike Bernier, Plymouth State went 18-19-1 and 10-6 in the Little East Conference to capture the No. 3 seed for the LEC Tournament. The Panthers were on the short end of two narrow setbacks on day one of the tournament.
