Morrissey hits home run in victory

CLERMONT, Fla. – The Plymouth State University softball team were victorious in both games Wednesday on day five of the spring trip to the National Training Center, defeating Wesleyan University in the opener, 5-3, and Carleton College in the second game, 2-1.

The Panthers were led offensively in game one by senior Rachel Morrissey (Salem, N.H.) who hit a three-run homer in the top of the fourth to help Plymouth achieve the 5-3 victory.

Game two was a tight contest, as the Panther offense came off the bat of junior Abrie Davis (Amherst, N.H.) with her two-RBI single being the only runs that Plymouth State would score. Junior Allison Moylan (Methuen, Mass.) had a strong pitching performance to seal the victory.

Plymouth State finished the day improving their record to 6-4 on the season, while Wesleyan is now 5-6 and Carleton is 6-4.
