Abigale McGee (Bozeman, Mont.) snapped a 3-3 tie with just over 12 minutes remaining in the third period and sophomore
Sophie Streed (Surry, N.H.) tallied a career-high four points to help Plymouth State University slip past Johnson & Wales University, 5-3, in New England Hockey Conference (NEHC) women's ice hockey action at New England Sports Village on Friday night.
The teams went back-and-forth all night long. In a high-scoring first period, PSU erased a 1-0 deficit with back-to-back scores, but the Wildcats answered back to knot the game at 2-2. Plymouth State rallied to go back in front, but the hosts tallied the lone goal in the middle period to deadlock the game again, now 3-3, heading to the final period.
McGee blocked a pair of shots in the period before finding the back of the net and Plymouth State added a power play insurance goal two minutes later to pick up the win.
Plymouth State improves to 7-15-1 and 5-12-0 in the NEHC, while the Wildcats go to 10-13-1 and 7-10-0 in league play.

How it Happened:
- The Wildcats got on the board first midway through the opening period, but Streed banged home the equalizer just 30 seconds later to tie the game at 1-1.
- Streed helped set up junior Addie Swanson (Eagle River, Alaska) with 6:37 left in the frame to give the Panthers a 2-1 lead, but the hosts answered three minutes later to pull even.
- PSU went back in front with 3:24 left in a high-scoring first period when junior Meghan Hamilton (Walpole, Mass.) lit the lamp for the team-leading fifth time this season.
- The Wildcats scored the lone goal of the middle period to tie the game once again heading into the final 20 minutes.
- Swanson notched her second point of the night to setup McGee) as PSU took the lead for good eight minutes into the third.
- Senior Siri Brett (East Wenatchee, Wash.) gave the Panthers some insurance as they capitalized on a power play chance to account for the final score.
By the Numbers:
- Hamilton's five goals are tops on the team.
- Streed finished with a goal and three assists for a career high four points.
- Sophomore Amelia Julian (Apple Valley, Minn.) made 38 saves in the win.
- The win was PSU's first against the Wildcats since the January 2017.

- The Panthers wrap up the regular season tomorrow (Feb. 12) at the University of Massachusetts Boston. The teams will meet for the second time in five days after playing 59:13 of back-and-forth scoreless hockey on Tuesday. Puck drop is set for 3:00 p.m.
