PLYMOUTH, N.H. – Junior
Taylor Healey (Campton, N.H.) scored five goals and added four assists as Plymouth State University defeated UMass Dartmouth, 11-1, in a Little East Conference (LEC) field hockey game Saturday afternoon at Panther Field.
The Corsairs got on the board first just under five minutes into the contest, but the Panthers' offense ignited just 32 seconds later, starting with junior
Athena Comeau (Rutland, Mass.), who netted her third of the season on a feed from Healey. Sophomore
Amy Cohen (Concord, N.H.) and Healey each scored in the second quarter to give PSU a 3-1 lead into halftime.
Plymouth State started the second half on fire when Healey notched her second goal of the game. Freshman
Jen Newick (Lee, N.H.) added her second of the season just over a minute later and Healey would tack on two more in the frame. Cohen scored her second of the afternoon late in the third quarter and added her third of the day early in the fourth to complete her hat trick.
Junior
Jenna Freni (Lynnfield, Mass.) scored the first goal of her career with under five minutes to go and PSU cruised the rest of the way.
The contest was part of Plymouth State's
50 Years of Title IX – Celebrating the Women of Panther Athletics weekend. A pregame ceremony paid tribute to former PSU head coach and trailblazer Dorothy "Dot" Diehl, while the Plymouth Regional High School team and members of the Plymouth Thundercats Field Hockey Club were special guests.
Plymouth State improves to 5-2 and stays unbeaten in the LEC (3-0), while UMass Dartmouth drops to 2-4 (0-2 LEC).

How it Happened:
- The Corsairs got on the board just under five minutes in.
- The lead was short-lived, as Comeau answered with the equalizer just 32 seconds later.
- Healey and Cohen each scored in the second quarter to give the Panthers a 3-1, halftime lead.
- Healey scored three times in the third quarter alone, with Newick and Cohen also finding the back of the cage to make it 8-1.
- Cohen completed the hat trick at the beginning of the fourth quarter.
- Freni scored her first career goal late in the fourth quarter and Healey rounded out her career day with her fifth goal on an assist from senior Alessia Salzillo (Saugus, Mass.).
By the Numbers:
- Plymouth State held a commanding 26-7 advantage in shots and allowed just one shot on goal through the first three quarters of play.
- Cohen netted her first career hat trick and now has seven goals this season.
- Healey continues her scoring binge, finding the back of the cage for the seventh straight game to open the season, and now has 13 goals on the year.
- Healey leads the LEC with 31 points on 13 goals and five assists.
