KEENE, N.H. – Junior
Athena Comeau (Rutland, Mass.) scored the Panthers' lone goal in the third quarter, but Plymouth State University fell to Keene State College, 4-1, in a Little East Conference (LEC) field hockey game at the Owl Athletic Complex on Tuesday night.
Keene State got on the board in the first quarter after converting a penalty stroke, then added two more goals in the second to take a 3-0 lead into the half.
The Panthers tried to mount their comeback in the early stages of the third quarter, but the Owls' defense was equal to the task. Shortly after a scoring opportunity by junior
Taylor Healey (Campton, N.H.), Keene State brought the ball downfield and converted on their only scoring chance of the frame to make it 4-0.
With just under two minutes to go in the third, Comeau found the ball at midfield and rushed in on the Owls' defense, scoring her fourth goal of the season and getting the Panthers on the board.
Keene State kept the Panthers' offense at bay the remainder of the game, though, to hold on for the 4-1 win.
Plymouth State slips to 5-3 and suffers its first conference loss of the year (3-1 LEC), Keene State improves to 4-3 and 3-0 in the Little East.

How it Happened:

- The Panthers' offense started to find some rhythm early in the third, but Healey was denied.
- Keene State found the back of the cage shortly after to make it 4-0.
- PSU's offense continued to push and Comeau pounced on a loose ball to score her fourth of the season.
- Keene State held its lead the rest of the way to seal the win.

- Comeau scored her fourth goal of the season, third-most on the team.
- Healey had a game-high seven shots but was held scoreless for the first time this season.
