NEW LONDON, N.H. – Junior
Luke Sokolski (Waterford, Conn.) and freshman
Andrew Faherty (Phoenix, Ariz.) had outstanding performances at bat to blast Plymouth State University past Colby-Sawyer College, 19-11, in non-conference baseball action from Kelsey Baseball Field on Thursday afternoon.
After trailing 2-1 through the first two innings, Faherty led the Panthers to an offensive explosion over the next three frames with a double and single with two RBIs to help PSU score 10 straight runs.
The Chargers began to answer back with six runs of their own, but Sokolski bombed a double and Faherty singled to add more runs to the board, eventually bringing the Panthers to an impressive victory of 19-11.
Plymouth State rises to 6-12, while the Chargers drop to 4-18.

How it Happened:
- The Chargers got on the board first with a run in the bottom of the first.
- PSU pulled even in the second when junior Jack Marsden (Broadalbin, N.Y.) ripped a single back up the middle to drive in a run, but Colby-Sawyer answered right back in the bottom half.
- The Panthers scored the next 11 runs with doubles from Faherty, senior Bryan McGrath (Franklin, Mass.), sophomore Danny Quinn (Holliston, Mass.) and freshman Aidan Ponder (Merrimack, N.H.), who combined for five RBI to extend the lead to 12-2.
- Colby-Sawyer rallied in a six-run sixth to pull within 12-8.
- PSU continued to build a gap when Sokolski and sophomores Scooter Summa (Ellicott City, Md.) and Sam Malgeri (Stratham, N.H.) all doubled for four runs and freshman Chris Faherty (Phoenix, Ariz.) added an RBI single to make it 17-8.
- The hosts got a run in the seventh, but Summa answered with a sacrifice fly to bring home A. Faherty for an 18-9 advantage heading to the bottom of the eighth.
- Colby-Sawyer cut the margin to 18-11 with a pair of runs and PSU added a run with a bases-loaded fielder's choice to account for the final score.
By the Numbers:
- Sokolski continued his hot streak at the plate, going 4-for-5 with two RBI.
- A. Faherty had a pair of doubles and drove in two.
- Sokolski added two stolen bases, while four other Panthers also recorded steals.
- Junior Sam Dyckman (Whitefield, N.H.) allowed just two unearned runs over the first four innings, striking out three.
- Sophomore Ryan Williams (Merrimack, N.H.) was credited with the win, allowing no runs in the fifth, while senior Bobby Cliche (Stratham, N.H.) worked a one-two-three ninth inning.
