HARTFORD, Conn. – Senior
Luke Sokolski (Waterford, Conn.) homered for the third time this season but Plymouth State University fell to Eastern Connecticut State University in both ends of a Little East Conference (LEC) double header at Dunkin' Park on Saturday.
Plymouth State held a 1-0 lead through three innings of game one, but the Warriors bounced back with the next seven runs of the game to lead 7-1 through eight. Sokolski smashed a homer to left field in the ninth, but the Warriors halted the comeback bid to earn the 7-2 victory.
Eastern Connecticut erupted for 13 runs in game two, en route to a 13-1, seven inning win.
Plymouth State moves to 2-8 (0-2 LEC), while the Warriors, who were receiving votes in the latest D3baseball.com poll, jump to 14-5 (4-0 LEC).

How it Happened (Game One):
- Junior Sam Malgeri (Stratham, N.H.) gave the Panthers a lead in the bottom of the third. Junior Scooter Summa (Ellicott City, Md.) was hit by a pitch and senior Jackson Curtis (Jefferson, N.H.) reached on an infield hit. Malgeri nailed a hit through the right side to score Summa for a 1-0 lead.
- The Warriors responded in the fourth when they took advantage of a pair of miscues to take a 3-1 lead.
- Eastern Connecticut pulled further ahead with another two runs in the sixth to make it 5-1.
- After ECSU scored twice in the eighth, PSU tried to mount a late comeback in the final at bat. Sokolski bombed a homer to left, but the Warriors were able to close out the win.
By the Numbers (Game One):
- Sokolski went 2-for-3 with his third homer of the season.
- Eastern Connecticut banged out 11 hits and stole three bases.
- Plymouth State turned two double plays.
- Junior Adrian Siravo (Gilmanton, N.H.) struck out six over his six innings of work, while senior Eoin Hamell-Kelleher (Attleboro, Mass.) allowed just one earned over the final three innings.
How it Happened (Game Two):
- Eastern Connecticut carried the momentum from the first game to open the scoring with three runs in the third for a 3-0 lead.
- The Warriors added another run in the fourth until PSU got on the board in the bottom of the inning. Sokolski singled and moved up to second on a wild pitch. Sophomore Brendan Flynn (Arlington, Mass.) singled him to third and Sokolski raced home on another wild pitch to make it 4-1.
- The ECSU offense turned it on in the late innings pushing four runs across in the sixth before adding five more in the seventh to account for the final score.
By the Numbers (Game Two):
- Sokolski posted another multi-hit game with his 2-for-3 effort.
- Flynn and junior Owen Baum (Saint Michaels, Md.) also had singles.
- Hamell-Kelleher punched out three over his 3.2 innings.
