NEW LONDON, N.H. – Senior
Luke Sokolski (Waterford, Conn.) reached base three times, but Colby-Sawyer College jumped out to an early lead to topple Plymouth State University, 15-4, in non-conference baseball action Kelsey Baseball Field on Monday afternoon.
Sokolski doubled, walked, and was hit by a pitch and scored a pair of runs in the setback.
The Chargers scored three times in the bottom of the first and pushed the margin to 7-0 after three. Sokolski's leadoff double jumpstarted a PSU rally in the fourth as the Panthers scored three times to pull within 7-3, but the hosts would pull away in the later innings to secure the win.
Plymouth State slips to 9-16, while the Chargers improve to 22-14.

How it Happened:
- Colby-Sawyer got out to a 3-0 lead in the bottom of the first, then tacked on four more in the third for a 7-0 advantage.
- Sokolski ripped a double to center to kick off the top of the fourth. Junior Owen Baum (Saint Michaels, Md.) followed with an RBI double and sophomore Chris Faherty (Phoenix, Ariz.) singled to put runners on the corners. Faherty swiped second and twin brother Andrew Faherty (Phoenix, Ariz.) knocked in a run with a ground ball.
- Senior Jack Marsden (Broadalbin, N.Y.) cut the margin to 7-3 but the Chargers were able to limit the damage.
- The hosts grabbed an insurance run in the sixth, then extended the lead with three unearned runs in the seventh.
- Sokolski walked and stole second to start the eighth. A. Faherty ripped a two-out double to left to bring in the Panthers' fourth run, but Colby-Sawyer put the game out of reach with four more in the bottom of the inning.
By the Numbers:
- Sokolski went 1-for-2 with his double, two runs scored, a walk and hit by pitch. He also stole a base.
- Baum and A. Faherty both doubled, as three of PSU's six hits went for extra bases.
- C. Faherty singled in four at bats, stole a base and scored a run.
