GORHAM, Maine – Freshman
Jorja Moore (Penticton, British Columbia) turned aside 31 shots, but the University of Southern Maine used a pair of third-period goals to push past Plymouth State University, 2–0, in Little East Conference (LEC) women's ice hockey action at USM Ice Arena on Saturday afternoon.
Plymouth State earned an early power play just 13 seconds into the contest, but Southern Maine successfully killed it off. Moore racked up 22 saves through the first two periods to keep the game scoreless, but the Huskies finally broke through five minutes into the third. USM later added an insurance tally with under eight minutes remaining to seal the win.
Plymouth State falls to 2-5-0 (0-5-0 LEC), while Southern Maine improves to 3-4-0 (3-2-0 LEC).

How it Happened:
- The Panthers went on the power play just 13 seconds into the first period, but Southern Maine kept PSU off the board.
- PSU's penalty kill held USM without a shot on goal on its first opportunity to maintain the scoreless opening frame.
- Junior Jamie Steinmetz (Madison, Wis.) generated a flurry of chances around the seven-minute mark, but the game remained tied heading into the break.
- Southern Maine outshot the Panthers 11-3 in the second, but Moore and the PSU defense held strong to keep it 0–0 after two.
- The Huskies broke the deadlock 5:24 into the third, sneaking a shot into the top corner through a screen.
- A long stretch pass caught PSU in a line change as USM doubled its lead with 7:27 remaining.
- Plymouth State applied pressure late, but the Huskies' goaltender stood tall to secure the shutout.

- Moore made 31 saves and has posted 30-plus stops in both of her starts.
- Senior Morgan Cunningham (Wenham, Mass.) led PSU with three shots.
- Plymouth State's penalty kill went a perfect 2-for-2; the Panthers finished 0-for-1 on the power play.
- Plymouth State blocked 19 shots, with freshmen Maddie Wiggins (Loveland, Colo.) and Claire Deis (Calgary, Alberta) recording three apiece.
