BRIDGEWATER, Mass. – Junior
Ollie Kramer (Manhattan Beach, Calif.) delivered a dominant performance at the Bridgewater State Invitational on Saturday, claiming the Plymouth State University women's swim team's lone individual event win at Dr. Mary Jo Moriarty Pool.
Kramer cruised to victory in the 500-yard freestyle with a time of 5:37.68, the fourth-fastest in program history, winning the race by nearly 20 full seconds.
Senior
Olivia Bailey (Wrentham, Mass.) also had a strong day with three top-five finishes. She placed second in the 100-yard backstroke (1:03.92) and added fourth-place finishes in both the 100-yard individual medley (1:08.65) and the 50-yard backstroke (30.75).
Classmate
Jackie Gaigals (Rochester, N.H.) posted a runner-up finish as well, taking second in the 50-yard breaststroke (35.53), while adding sixth in the 100-yard individual medley (1:10.54) and seventh in the 50-yard butterfly (30.72).
Freshmen
Caitlyn McIntyre (Duxbury, Mass.) and
Savana Vieira (Berkley, Mass.) chipped in with additional top-10 performances. McIntyre placed fifth in the 200-yard individual medley (2:40.85), while Vieira finished tenth in the 200-yard freestyle (2:36.73).
In relay action, McIntyre, Kramer, Vieira and junior
Laurel Bennett (Rindge, N.H.) combined for a fifth-place finish in the 200-yard medley relay (2:03.40). Kramer, Gaigals, Bennett and Bailey also secured sixth in the 400-yard freestyle relay with a time of 4:13.82.
Plymouth State placed seventh in the team standings with 138 points.
