PROVIDENCE, R.I. – After helping the Plymouth State University women's ice hockey team to a 2-1 week, freshman
Claire Deis (Calgary, Alberta) has been named Little East Conference (LEC) Rookie of the Week, the league announced Monday.
Deis tallied a goal and an assist and added three blocked shots as the Panthers picked up a pair of non-conference wins over the weekend.
All of her scoring came in Plymouth State's 3-2 win over Salve Regina during the annual
Teddy Bear Toss game on Friday. She assisted on the Panthers' second-period goal to make it 2-0, then, less than 30 seconds after the Seahawks rallied to tie the game in the third, Deis buried the game-winner with a shot from the left circle. She added two blocked shots in Saturday's 4-3 win at Curry.
Plymouth State enters the winter break at 4-6-0 after winning its last two games. The Panthers return to action on Jan. 9 with a weekend series at Keene State.
