HANCOCK, Vt. – Senior
Tindra Bergstrand (Taby, Sweden) matched a season best with a 12th place finish and senior
Max Haussmann (Reutlingen, Germany) was once-again the top finisher for the men as the Plymouth State University alpine ski teams wrapped up the Middlebury College Carnival with the giant slalom on Saturday.
Bergstrand ended up 12th for the second straight GS event after doing the same at the Dartmouth Carnival last weekend. She sat in 11th after the morning and followed with another strong run to finish just 0.17 out of the top ten.
Haussmann was the top finisher for the men for the eighth time in ten carnival races, while sophomore
Vincent Fosser (Helsingborg, Sweden) and graduate student
Sam Hayden (Richmond, Vt.) each outskied their bib numbers by more than 30 spots.
Both teams finished eighth in the team standings.

How it Happened (Women's GS):
- Bergstrand had a fantastic opening run to rank 11th with a time of 1:01.94. She followed with another strong performance in the afternoon to end up 12th with a combined 2:04.66, just 0.17 shy of a top ten spot and eight slots ahead of her prerace seeding. It was her second straight 12th place finish in the GS.
- Senior Vanessa Riise Naas (Lillestrøm, Norway) got down the hill in 1:02.38 in the morning to rank 17th. She ended the day in 26th with a total time of 2:06.24.
- Freshman Olivia Andersson (Vaxholm, Sweden) sat in 37th following her first run of 1:03.45. She moved up one spot in the afternoon, finishing 36th in 2:07.92.
- Freshmen Meg Heckey (Québec City, Québec) and Laurence Bouchard (Québec City, Québec) were neck-and-neck in the morning. Heckey's first run was 1:04.75, with Bouchard finishing in 1:05.01.
- Heckey wrapped up the day in 41st after a nine-spot improvement in the afternoon with a combined time of 2:09.32.
- Bouchard jumped up ten spots to rank 43rd in 2:09.64.
- Senior Ronja Dahlin (Hudiksvall, Sweden) was unable to complete her second run.
How it Happened (Men's GS):
- Haussmann was tied for 20th after cruising down the hill in 1:00.72 in the morning. He bumped up one spot in the afternoon to claim 19th with a total time of 2:01.15, outperforming his bib number by eight spots.
- Hayden was tied for 29th after his first run of 1:01.03. He surged up another seven spots to end the day in 22nd, more than 30 slots above his bib number, with a total time of 2:01.57.
- Graduate student Chauncey Morgan (Etna, N.H.) ended the day tied for 43rd with a time of 2:03.05, just ahead of Fosser, whose 2:03.61 was good for 47th. His finish was 36 spots ahead of his bib #83.
- Senior Reed Wilson (Bristol, N.H.) and sophomore Angus Somers (Ottawa, Ontario) were in 67th and 71st, respectively, following their first runs of 1:03.28 and 1:03.73, but did not qualify for second runs.

- The Panthers head to their home mountain, Mittersill at Cannon Mountain, for the EISA Championships and NCAA East Regionals at the UNH Carnival next weekend. The Senior Day weekend features giant slalom on Friday (Feb. 21), with slalom on Saturday (Feb. 22).
