PLYMOUTH, N.H. – Senior
Kevin Henry (Stratham, N.H.) of the Plymouth State University men's basketball team has been named the PSU Male Athlete of the Month for February, sponsored by the New Hampshire Army National Guard.
Henry totaled 172 points, averaging 24.6 points per game, while shooting 43.8% from the field and 90.0% from the free throw line. He also contributed 45 rebounds, seven blocks, 17 steals and 12 assists, helping the Panthers to a 3-4 record for the month.
Henry shined in a 75-72 loss to UMass Dartmouth on Feb. 1, recording his second double-double of the season with 23 points, 14 rebounds, a steal, and a block while shooting 73.3% from the floor. His performance earned him Little East Conference (LEC) Player of the Week honors.
He followed with another standout game on Feb. 4, tying a career high with 34 points and grabbing six rebounds in an 80-67 win at Maine Maritime. Henry was dominant defensively, setting a personal best with six steals, while shooting 16-of-26 from the field and 2-of-3 from the free throw line.
After a 15-point outing in a 79-74 loss to Rhode Island College on Feb. 8, Henry dropped another 30-point game in a 71-67 win at VTSU Castleton on Feb. 12, finishing with 32 points, three steals and a block. It marked his third 30-point game of the year.
Henry continued his hot streak with three more 20-plus-point performances:
- 21 points (11-of-14 FT) and two blocks at UMass Boston (Feb. 15).
- 20 points, three steals, and a perfect 6-of-6 from the line against Southern Maine (Feb. 19).
- 27 points in a 65-57 win over Eastern Connecticut State on Senior Day (Feb. 22), when he surpassed the 1,000-point milestone.
Henry finished his career 34th on PSU's all-time scoring list with 1,010 points. He wrapped up the season ranking in the top five in the LEC in field goal percentage, free throw percentage, and points per game, while leading the conference in steals per game to earn a spot on the All-LEC Second Team.
Plymouth State finished the season 12-13 overall and 5-11 in conference play, falling just one game short of a postseason berth.
