GORHAM, Maine – Senior
Danny Quinn (Holliston, Mass.) reached base twice with a double and hit by pitch, but Plymouth State University dropped a Little East Conference (LEC) baseball game at the University of Southern Maine, 12-0, Thursday evening at Ed Flaherty Field.
Southern Maine scored twice in the bottom of the first and doubled the margin in the fourth. The Huskies tacked on two more in the fifth before putting the game out of reach with a six-run sixth.
Plymouth State falls to 3-13 (0-5 LEC), while the Huskies improve to 8-13 (5-2 LEC).

How it Happened:
- Southern Maine got a pair of runs in the bottom of the first.
- Quinn was hit by a pitch with one out in the second but was stranded there.
- The Huskies added two more runs in the fourth and fifth innings to extend the lead to 6-0.
- Senior Sam Malgeri (Stratham, N.H.) led off the sixth with a base hit, but USM retired the next the batters in order.
- The hosts put the game out of reach with a six-run sixth.
- Quinn smacked a two-out double in the seventh, but the Panthers were unable to rally.
By the Numbers:
- Quinn's double was his second of the year. He also reached on a hit by pitch.
- Malgeri has reached base safely in nine of his 13 games.
