PLYMOUTH, N.H. – Senior
Danny Quinn (Holliston, Mass.) had three hits, including a home run, but the University of Southern Maine used a pair of big innings to top Plymouth State University, 20-7, in a Little East Conference (LEC) baseball game at Parish Field on Tuesday afternoon.
The Huskies scored nine times in the fourth to take an 11-0 lead. PSU attempted to rally, scoring runs in each of the last four innings, but USM added a six-run sixth to run away with the win.
Quinn led the Panthers with a three-hit game, going 3-for-4 with a home run, two runs scored and two RBIs, while four other players had multi-hit games.
Plymouth State slips to 4-16 (1-8 LEC), while the Huskies are 13-17 (7-5 LEC).

How it Happened:
- Southern Maine took a 1-0 lead in the second inning.
- Senior Owen Baum (Saint Michaels, Md.) doubled in the bottom half but was stranded.
- The Huskies added another run in the third.
- USM extended the margin to 11-0 with a nine-run fourth.
- Quinn pulled a single through the left side and scored on Baum's double to get the Panthers on the board in the bottom half.
- The Panthers added three more in the fifth. Junior Andrew Faherty (Phoenix, Ariz.) doubled and sophomore Josh Worthington (Pownal, Vt.) singled to put runners on the corners. Sophomore Sam Salvi (Southborough, Mass.) and graduate student Luke Sokolski (Waterford, Conn.) had hits to make it 11-2, and another run came home on a double play ball. Quinn's RBI single cut the margin to 11-4.
- USM answered right back with a six-run sixth.
- Salvi's RBI single brought home a run in the bottom of the inning to make it 17-5.
- The Huskies added three more in the seventh.
- Quinn and graduate student Jackson Curtis (Jefferson, N.H.) blasted back-to-back homers in the bottom of the inning over the high fence in right, but that was as close as the Panthers would get.
By the Numbers:
- Quinn went 3-for-4 with two runs and two RBIs.
- Baum doubled twice, scored once, and drove in a run.
- Worthington (two singles), Salvi (two singles), and Sokolski (two singles) all had multi-hit games.
- Worthington also drew a walk.
- Salvi had two RBIs.
- Plymouth State has lost the last 15 matchups against the Huskies.
