WH: Moore tabbed LEC Goalie of the Week

PROVIDENCE, R.I. – After posting a pair of shutouts during a 2-1-0 week for the Plymouth State University women's ice hockey team, freshman Jorja Moore (Penticton, British Columbia) was recognized with weekly honors by the Little East Conference (LEC), the league announced Monday.

Moore was named LEC Women's Ice Hockey Goalie of the Week after an outstanding stretch of goaltending that helped the Panthers earn a pair of non-conference wins.

Moore finished the week with a 0.68 goals-against average and a .968 save percentage, totaling 60 saves as the Panthers topped Salve Regina on Monday before splitting a weekend series with Anna Maria.

Moore made an impressive 31 saves – her third straight 30-save effort in as many starts – as the Panthers skated past Salve Regina, 3-0, on Monday night. She followed with a 14-save shutout in Friday night's 7-0 drubbing of Anna Maria, before logging 15 saves while surrendering just two goals in a 3-1 setback to the AMCATS on Saturday.

Moore became the first Panther goaltender to secure back-to-back shutouts since Emilie Lindqvist in February 2016. When Anna Maria tied Saturday's game at 1-1 in the second period, it snapped a stretch of nearly 165 scoreless minutes for the rookie netminder dating back to late November.

Plymouth State (7-8-0) returns to LEC action this weekend with an important home series against UMass Boston. The teams square off at Hanaway Rink on Friday (Jan. 23) at 2:30 p.m., before concluding the series on Saturday (Jan. 24) at 2 p.m.
