WILMINGTON, N.Y. – Four members of the Plymouth State University alpine ski team placed among the top 30 as the Panthers competed in the giant slalom at the St. Lawrence Carnival at Whiteface Mountain Ski Resort on Thursday.
Freshman
Emile Prouvost (Charleston, S.C.) was the top men's finisher for the second straight race, claiming 21st, just ahead of classmate
Hjalmar Nyman (Stockholm, Sweden), who was 25th.
The women were led by sophomores
Megan Heckey (Québec City, Québec) and
Marlene Sophie Krohn (Drammen, Norway), who were separated by just 0.17 seconds to finish 28th and 29th, respectively.
The women finished 10th as a team, while the men were eighth.

How it Happened (Women's GS):
- Sophomore Olivia Andersson (Vaxholm, Sweden) threw down with the 10th-fastest opening run (1:05.36) in the morning, but she was unable to finish her afternoon run.
- Heckey was 34th at the turn after a morning run of 1:06.84, while Krohn was right behind in 40th with a 1:07.06.
- The duo finished 28th and 29th after their afternoon runs, with Heckey finishing in a combined 2:16.50, and Krohn clocking a 2:16.67.
- Freshman Erin Husken (North Vancouver, British Columbia) was 47th after her first run but jumped up to 39th with a strong afternoon performance for a combined 2:18.51.
- Freshman Märta Hahlin (Arvidsjaur, Sweden) was 63rd after her first run but did not qualify for a second run.
- Sophomore Laurence Bouchard (Québec City, Québec) and senior Gill Hamilton (Ottawa, Ontario) were unable to complete their first runs.
How it Happened (Men's GS):
- Prouvost was PSU's top finisher in the morning, ranking 28th with a time of 1:04.44. He followed with another solid performance in the afternoon, sliding into 21st after posting a 1:05.41 for a combined 2:09.85.
- Sophomore Alvin Guteland Beiming (Södertälje, Sweden) was close behind in 34th with a 1:04.61 in the morning but did not finish his second run.
- Nyman ranked 40th with a first run time of 1:05.11 but roared into 25th after an afternoon time of 1:05.16.
- Freshman Charlie Howe (Lake Placid, N.Y.) also made a big jump up the leaderboard in the afternoon. After ranking 48th with an opening run of 1:05.38, he surged into 37th with a combined 2:11.58.
- Freshman Harry Duncan (Ramsdell, United Kingdom) and senior Vincent Fosser (Helsingborg, Sweden) were among the top 65 in the morning run though neither qualified for a second run.
- Freshman Ethan Rathbone (Newburyport, Mass.) was unable to finish his first run.
