STOWE, Vt. – The Plymouth State University men's alpine ski team placed three skiers in the top 20 to record the program's best team result in three years, while sophomore
Olivia Andersson (Vaxholm, Sweden) posted a career-best finish for the second straight weekend as the Panthers competed in the giant slalom on day one of the UVM Carnival at Stowe Mountain Resort on Thursday.
Andersson's ninth-place finish marked her personal best, while the men's squad finished fourth overall – its strongest giant slalom team result since February 2023. Sophomore
Alvin Guteland Beiming (Södertälje, Sweden) led the Panthers with a 14th-place showing.
Andersson was tenth after the opening run before posting the seventh-fastest time in the afternoon to climb to ninth overall, surpassing last week's finish by one spot.
On the men's side, Guteland Beiming and freshmen
Axel Hafsett (Lausanne, Switzerland) and
Hjalmar Nyman (Stockholm, Sweden) anchored the team effort. Hafsett surged into 16th with a strong second run, just behind Guteland Beiming, while Nyman completed the trio with a 20th-place finish.
The women were sixth as a team.

How it Happened (Men's GS):
- Guteland Beiming led the Panthers in the morning with a 1:04.30, sitting 19th. His afternoon run of 1:01.18 – tied for 13th fastest – vaulted him to 14th overall (2:05.48), the second-best GS performance of his career.
- Nyman and Hafsett were close after the first runs, ranking 26th and 28th respectively. Nyman clocked 1:04.75, Hafsett 1:04.85.
- Hafsett exploded down the hill in the second run with a 1:01.00 – a top-10 time – to finish 16th overall (2:05.85), 55 spots ahead of his No. 71 bib in his first EISA Carnival appearance.
- Nyman improved to 20th (2:06.22) after a 1:01.47 second run.
- Senior Vincent Fosser (Helsingborg, Sweden) was 44th after a morning time of 1:05.36, two spots ahead of freshman Charlie Howe (Lake Placid, N.Y.), who ranked 46th in 1:05.46.
- Both moved up in the afternoon, with Howe surging into 27th and Fosser ending 38th.
- Freshman Emile Prouvost (Charleston, S.C.) finished in 1:06.03 to rank 56th in the morning. He jumped up to 40th after his second run.
- Classmate Harry Duncan (Ramsdell, United Kingdom) completed his first run in 1:07.18 but did not qualify for a second run.
How it Happened (Women's GS):
- Andersson posted a 1:06.54 in the morning to rank 10th, then followed with another dynamic performance in the afternoon (1:03.73) for ninth overall (2:10.27), her career-best.
- Sophomores Laurence Bouchard (Québec City, Québec) and Marlene Sophie Krohn (Drammen, Norway) were 32nd and 39th after the morning runs. Bouchard posted a time of 1:08.17, while Krohn completed the course in 1:08.82.
- Bouchard jumped up nine spots to 23rd after a second run of 1:04.39 for a combined 2:12.56.
- Krohn's second run of 1:05.95 gave her a total time of 2:14.77 to rank 33rd.
- Sophomore Megan Heckey (Québec City, Québec) was 48th after a first run of 1:09.65, while senior Gill Hamilton (Ottawa, Ontario) was right behind her in 50th after clocking a 1:09.78.
- Both also moved up the leaderboard in the afternoon, as Heckey slid into 38th with a combined 2:16.00, while Hamilton ended the day in 41st in 2:16.78.
- Freshman Märta Hahlin (Arvidsjaur, Sweden) completed her morning run in 1:10.53 but did not qualify for a second run, while classmate Deavyn Parchewsky (Calgary, Alberta) posted a DNF in her EISA carnival debut.
