BB: Campbell collects three hits, but Panthers swept at Bates

LEWISTON, Maine – Senior Ray Campbell (Torrington, Conn.) had three hits, but Plymouth State University was swept by Bates College, 3-0 and 6-2, in a non-conference doubleheader at Leahey Field on Sunday afternoon.

Sophomore Brady Harvie (Windham, Maine) and senior Jackson Fish (Hanover, Mass.) combined to allow just three hits in game one, but Bates scored single runs in each of the first three innings and Plymouth State couldn't push a run across in a 3-0 setback. PSU had runners on base in each of the first four innings but couldn't deliver the timely hit.

The Bobcats built a 5-0 lead over the first four innings of game two while retiring 15 of the first 16 Panther hitters. PSU rallied with a two-run sixth and had runners in scoring position in the seventh and eighth, but Bates was able to hold on for a 6-2 win.

Plymouth State falls to 0-5, while the Bobcats improve to 6-1.
