WATERVILLE, Maine – Senior
Jackson Fish (Hanover, Mass.) worked a career-high 3.2 innings of scoreless relief, but Colby College snapped a 4-4 tie with four runs in the bottom of the eighth inning to slip past Plymouth State University, 8-4, in a non-conference matchup at Coombs Field on Tuesday.
Plymouth State took a 3-0 lead in the first, but the Mules scored twice in the bottom of the inning and once in the second to tie the game. Fish was outstanding in relief, retiring 11 of the 12 batters he faced, and the Panthers scored on a passed ball to take a 4-3 lead in the fifth.
Colby tied the game on a sacrifice fly in the sixth, and it remained deadlocked into the bottom of the eighth, when the hosts pulled away with four unanswered runs to secure the win.
Plymouth State falls to 1-10, while the Mules improve to 12-6.

How it Happened:
- Senior Andrew Faherty (Phoenix, Ariz.) stayed hot at the plate with a leadoff single, and junior Brayden Michaelson (Charlton, Mass.) later singled for a 1-0 lead. Senior Ray Campbell (Torrington, Conn.) added an RBI double, and a sacrifice fly pushed the lead to 3-0.
- Colby cut the deficit to 3-2 with a two-out, two-run double in the bottom of the inning.
- The Mules pulled even with a run in the second, but Fish stranded a pair of runners in scoring position.
- Faherty walked in the fifth ahead of a double by junior Sam Salvi (Southborough, Mass.), and a passed ball gave the Panthers a 4-3 lead.
- Colby tied the game at 4-4 with a sacrifice fly in the sixth.
- PSU put a pair of runners on in the top of the eighth but couldn't cash in, and the Mules pushed across four runs in the bottom of the frame to take the lead.
- The Panthers were unable to rally in the ninth.
