PROVIDENCE, R.I. – A pair of Plymouth State University women's volleyball players were honored when the Little East Conference (LEC) announced its weekly award winners on Monday.
Sophomore
Sya McKay (Somersworth, N.H.) was named LEC Women's Volleyball Offensive Player of the Week, while junior
Danielle Emerson (Biddeford, Maine) claimed Setter of the Week honors as the duo helped guide the Panthers to a 2-0 week.
McKay averaged 2.63 kills and 1.13 blocks per set for the week. She pounded 16 kills with six blocks and a .324 attack percentage as PSU opened LEC play with a five-set win at Rhode Island College on Saturday. She added five kills, three blocks and two aces in Wednesday's sweep of the University of New England.
Emerson averaged 7.25 assists and 2.13 digs per set for the week, logging a double-double with a career-high 45 assists, 12 digs, three kills and three aces in the five-set battle against the Anchorwomen. She contributed 13 assists, five digs, two kills and an ace in Wednesday's sweep of UNE.
Plymouth State (9-3, 1-0 LEC) looks to extend its season-high four-match winning streak on Wednesday (Sept. 30) when Rivier University travels to Foley Gymnasium for a 5 p.m. tilt.
