Box Score Panthers match season high with 15 runs
PLYMOUTH, N.H. – Junior Ryan
McIntosh (Lincoln, N.H.) and sophomore Joe
Perry (Sandwich, Mass.) had three hits apiece and
sophomore Spencer Webb (Warwick, R.I.) hit a home
run and knocked in three Sunday afternoon as Plymouth State
University defeated Lyndon State College, 15-2, in a non-conference
baseball game at Panther Park.
The Panther bats exploded for 15 runs on 16 hits, matching their
season high in runs scored. PSU plated four runs in the first
inning and two in the second before putting the game out of reach
with six runs in the fourth inning. The game was stopped
after seven innings; PSU improved to 7-19 overall while LSC dipped
to 5-16.
Perry had two doubles among his three hits, while senior
Anthony Vadala (Medford, Mass.) also smacked a
pair of two-baggers. All five Panther starters had at
least one hit, with freshman Tucker Regan
(Niantic, Conn.) also contributing a single, a double and two RBI
and classmate Ryan Theriault (Somersworth, N.H.)
chipping in with a double and two runs batted in.
Junior Luke Merrill (Pittsburg, N.H) earned the
victory for PSU, evening his record at 2-2. He pitched five
innings and allowed just one earned run on six hits and no walks,
striking out five. Freshman Jeff Runnals
(Wolfeboro, N.H.) worked two scoreless innings of relief.
Sophomore Shayne Kirby (Fairfax, Va.) highlighted the day for
Lyndon State with a solo home run to left field in the first
inning. Classmate Corey Lescault (Bristol, R.I.) had two of
the Hornets' eight hits.
PSU continues its nine-game home stand on Tuesday, hosting rival
Keene State in a Little East Conference match-up (3:30 p.m.)
Lyndon State plays a North Atlantic Conference doubleheader Monday
at UMaine Farmington (2:00 p.m.).
