SOMERVILLE, Mass. – Senior
Jacob Rigoli (Essex, Vt.) made Plymouth State University men's track & field history once again as he broke two records and won an event at the Tufts Sunshine Classic on Saturday.
Rigoli began the day with his signature event, the hammer throw. After breaking the school record last week, he obliterated it once again with a throw of 52.32 meters to take the win by nearly five full meters.
He added his second program record of the season in the discus throw, firing the disc 42.23 meters to beat the previous record by over a meter.
Plymouth State finished third out of seven team, topping Little East Conference (LEC) foe Keene State and finishing just behind the University of Massachusetts Dartmouth.

How it Happened:
- Freshman Connor Wilcox (Colchester, Conn.) ran a season-best time in the 1,500-meter run crossing the line in 4:16.06 to score eighth overall.
- Sophomore Jyaire Hatcher (Uniondale, N.Y.) snagged a huge career-best in the 400-meter dash as he ran 50.65 seconds to beat his personal best by nearly two seconds. His effort placed him fourth overall.
- Senior Terrell Lewis (New Boston, N.H.) continues to sweep the 110-meter hurdles as he added his third win of the season in the event with a time of 14.97 seconds. He added an eighth-place finish in the 200-meter dash, crossing the line in 23.22 seconds, and a fourth-place showing in the high jump after clearing 1.86 meters.
- Junior Michael Barrett (Hartford, Conn.) had the help of Wilcox and freshman Jacob Gallaher (Gambrills, Md.), who paced Barrett in the first few laps of the 5,000-meter run to win the race in a time of 15:57.40.
- Senior Randall Scroggins (Rumney, N.H.) and junior Patrick Williston (Redding, Conn.) also ran the 5,000m, placing second and fourth with times of 17:38.72 and 18:18.76, respectively.
- The duo of juniors Mike Olson (Sutton, Mass.) and Colin Moar (Annandale, Va.) represented in the 800-meter run. Olson topped the field in a time of 1:56.20, while Moar nearly broke the two-minute barrier with a time of 2:00.07 to place fifth.
- Sophomore Brandon Vachon (Ayer, Mass.) scored once again in the javelin throw as he threw 42.35 meters and placed sixth overall.
- Senior Mike Barrett (Hudson, N.H.) and junior Owen Billin (Meredith, N.H.) placed second and third in the triple jump with leaps of 12.35 meters and 10.76 meters, respectively.
- Rigoli demolished his own hammer throw record and added a record in the discus throw. He won the hammer and placed third in discus.
- Also in throws, freshman Jimmy Peluso (Fair Haven, N.J.) made his mark in the shot put as he had a toss of 11.74 meters to place sixth overall.
