SPRINGFIELD, Mass. – Freshman
Griffin Massahos (Londonderry, N.H.) finished second in his heat to qualify for the finals of the 100 meters while representing Plymouth State University's men's outdoor track & field team at the NCAA Division III New England Regional Championship, hosted by Springfield College at Blake Track on Friday.
Massahos clocked 10.91 to place seventh in the prelims, securing a spot at Saturday's (May 2) finals.
Senior
Max Goodman (South Salem, N.Y.) placed fourth in the 5,000 meters with a time of 15:32.94 to earn All-New England honors and secure five points for the Panthers.
Juniors
Elijah Thomas (Stoughton, Mass.) and
Shea McLaughlin (Byfield, Mass.) also competed in the prelims of the 110-meter hurdles. Thomas ran 15.82 to finish fifth in his heat, while McLaughlin posted a time of 16.54 to place sixth in his heat.
Plymouth State is tied for 15th in the team standings with five points.
The meet concludes Saturday (May 2), when Massahos will compete in the finals of the 100 meters, as well as the 200 meters. Also competing for the Panthers are freshman
Cam Lee (Northwood, N.H.) in the 400-meter hurdles, juniors
Cooper O'Neil (Millbury, Mass.) and
Ben Colby (Manchester, N.H.) in the 3,000-meter steeplechase, freshman
Enzo Valenti (Montville, Conn.) in the discus, and the 4x400-meter relay team of Lee, freshman
Jiasen Smith (Lisbon, N.H.), sophomore
Isaias Aguasvivas Pena (Marblehead, Mass.) and senior
Zach Hodge (Springfield, N.H.).
