SPRINGFIELD, Mass. – Freshman
Griffin Massahos (Londonderry, N.H.) earned All-Region honors in two individual events to pace the Plymouth State University men's outdoor track & field team at the NCAA Division III New England Regional Championship, hosted by Springfield College at Blake Track on Saturday.
Massahos ran a program-record 10.80 in the finals of the 100 meters to finish fourth, then clocked 22.53 in the 200 meters to place eighth, earning All-Region honors in both events.
Senior
Zach Hodge (Springfield, N.H.) capped his career with a personal record in the 400 meters, crossing the line in 49.89 to place 11th.
Freshman
Cam Lee (Northwood, N.H.) finished 12th in the 400-meter hurdles in 55.39, while juniors
Ben Colby (Manchester, N.H.) and
Cooper O'Neil (Millbury, Mass.) placed 12th and 13th, respectively, in the 3,000-meter steeplechase. Colby clocked 9:54.16, while O'Neil ran a personal-best 9:57.83.
Freshman
Enzo Valenti (Montville, Conn.) placed 21st in the discus with a mark of 32.11 meters.
PSU's 4x400-meter relay squad flirted with the school record, as freshman
Jiasen Smith (Lisbon, N.H.), Lee, sophomore
Isaias Aguasvivas Pena (Marblehead, Mass.) and Hodge teamed up to win their section and place sixth overall in 3:22.87 – missing the program mark by just five hundredths of a second.
Plymouth State finished the weekend with 14 points to tie for 20th, a 10-place improvement from last spring.
