WILLIAMSTOWN, Mass. – Senior
Jacob Rigoli (Essex, Vt.) demolished the field at the Williams Final Qualifier at Williams College on Wednesday evening in an attempt to qualify for the NCAA Division III Outdoor Track & Field National Championship.
Rigoli entered the field as the top seed in the hammer throw with an entry of 55.12 meters. On his last throw, he topped the whole field by over four meters with a heave of 50.94.
Rigoli currently ranks 23rd in the nation with his top distance of 55.12 meters to keep him in contention for a spot at the national championships.
Rigoli, along with senior
Terrell Lewis (New Boston, N.H.) and junior
Mike Olson (Sutton, Mass.), gets one more shot to secure spots at NCAAs when the trio compete at the MIT Final Qualifier on Thursday (May 19). Rigoli will be back in action in the hammer throw, while Lewis and Olson are contending in the 110-meter hurdles and 800-meter run, respectively.
