MOTF: Lewis advances to 110 Hurdles finals

PLYMOUTH, N.H. – Senior Terrell Lewis (New Boston, N.H.) came one step closer to a national title after qualifying for the finals of the 110-meter hurdles at the NCAA Division III Men's and Women's Outdoor Track & Field Championships at The SPIRE Institute in Geneva, Ohio on Friday.

Lewis, already a two-time All-American, entered the event as the 16th seed after locking up a spot with a season best time of 14.43 seconds at the MIT Final Qualifier last week. The winner of each of three heats and the next six fastest times would earn a spot in the finals.

In a highly competitive heat, Lewis posted a time of 14.58 to finish fifth, though his time was good enough to advance as five of the six members in the heat all moved through to the finals.

Lewis needs a top-eight showing tomorrow to become PSU's second three-time All-American after accomplishing the feat with a third-place finish in last year's 110-meter hurdles to go with an All-American showing at the 2019-20 indoor championships in the 60-meter hurdles, though the championship meet was canceled prior to the event due to the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic.

The finals take place on Saturday (May 28) at 1:00 p.m. and will be streamed live at ncaa.com/liveschedule.
