PROVIDENCE, R.I. – Senior
Paige Hurst (Pelham, N.H.) and sophomore
Rose Karow (South Yarmouth, Mass.) took home individual event wins and helped team up for a significant program record to aid the Plymouth State University women's track & field team to a sixth-place finish at the Little East Conference (LEC) Women's Indoor Track & Field Championships hosted by Rhode Island College at the Providence Career & Technical Academy Field House on Saturday.
Hurst jumpstarted the Panthers in the 400-meters when she won the event in a career-best 1:00.89. She took home the conference title while remaining two seconds off the program record.
Karow ran her signature event in the 800-meters and coasted to a winning time of 2:21.55, finishing only a second off her own program record time.
The duo joined efforts alongside senior
Montana Casa (Storrs Mansfield, Conn.) and junior
Cass Hanson (Stetson, Maine) for the 4x400-meter relay, crushing the program record by about nine seconds to finish in 4:14.67.
Freshman
Ani Flynn (Plymouth, N.H.) also set a school record after winning the high jump by clearing 1.59 meters.
Plymouth State finished sixth overall with 53 points.

How it Happened:
- Hurst nabbed the first victory of the day in the 400-meters when she crossed the line in 1:00.89.
- Freshman Abby Marston (Greene, Maine) placed sixth in the 600-meters in 1:52.07.
- Karow found another win for the Panthers in the 800-meters with a time of 2:21.55, while senior Abigail Snow (Grantham, N.H.) took sixth in 2:38.34.
- Flynn finished sixth overall in the 60-meter hurdles in 9.83 seconds.
- Hurst, Flynn, Casa and Hanson joined forces in the 4x200-meter relay when they finished second in 1:49.39.
- The 4x400-meter squad of Casa, Hanson, Karow and Hurst also placed second in a combined time of 4:14.67, crushing the previous record by roughly nine seconds.
- Juniors Isabel Costa (Harrisville, R.I.) and Amber Fernald (Alton, N.H.) and freshmen Mia Sweeney (Plymouth, Mass.) and Mary McGloine (Schuylerville, N.Y.) teamed up in the 4x800-meter relay to finish fifth in 11:10.23.
- Flynn made her mark in the high jump after she cleared 1.59 meters to win the event in school record fashion.
- Sophomore Emma Couturier (Turner, Maine) placed sixth overall in the long jump with a leap of 5.05 meters.
- Senior Kylie Taylor (Orford, N.H.) also took a sixth-place finish in the weight throw with a toss of 12.95 meters.
