PLYMOUTH, N.H. – Two members of the Plymouth State University baseball program were honored by College Sports Communicators for their academic excellence on Tuesday, as the CSC Academic All-District Teams were announced.
Junior
Brendan Flynn (Arlington, Mass.) and sophomore
Sam Salvi (Southborough, Mass.) were recognized for their outstanding academic accomplishments.
Academic All-District honorees are considered for advancement to the CSC Academic All-America ballot, where First-, second- and third-team Academic All-America honorees will be announced on July 1.
To be eligible for Academic All-District recognition, a student-athlete must be at least a sophomore academically and athletically and must maintain at least a 3.50 cumulative grade point average. Graduate students must maintain the minimum GPA as both undergrad and graduate students. Additionally, student-athletes must appear in 90% of the team's games, or start 66% of the team's games. Pitchers need a minimum of 17 appearances or 35 innings pitched.
Under three-year head coach
Ryan McIntosh, the Panthers finished the season with a 6-22 mark (3-13 LEC) and remained in the hunt for a postseason spot into the final week of the season. PSU swept Western Connecticut State behind a pair of dominant pitching performances and outhit Keene State, 14-5, in a narrow 4-3 setback to the eventual league champions on
Senior Day.
