ANNANDALE-ON-HUDSON, N.Y. – Seniors
Brendan Flynn (Arlington, Mass.) and
Ray Campbell (Torrington, Conn.) combined to drive in nine runs, but Plymouth State University came out on the short end of a high-scoring affair, falling to Bard College, 19-14, in a non-conference baseball game at Honey Field on Wednesday afternoon.
PSU took a 1-0 lead in the first inning, but Bard answered with four runs in the bottom of the frame and led the rest of the way. Plymouth State scored multiple runs in five different innings, but the hosts responded in half inning to maintain the lead. Flynn singled, tripled, walked twice and drove in five runs, while Campbell homered, drew two walks and knocked in four.
Plymouth State slips to 1-7 on the season, while Bard improves to 6-7.

How it Happened:
- Junior Brayden Michaelson (Charlton, Mass.) gave the Panthers a first-inning lead with a sacrifice fly.
- Bard responded with four runs in the bottom of the frame.
- Campbell's sacrifice fly and an RBI single from sophomore Anthony Cooley (Brunswick, Maine) cut the deficit to 4-3 in the third, but the Raptors answered with six runs in the bottom of the inning.
- Flynn ripped a two-run single in the fourth, and Michaelson made it 10-6 with another sacrifice fly, but Bard plated three runs in the bottom half for a 13-6 advantage.
- The Panthers used a two-out rally in the fifth, with junior Sam Salvi (Southborough, Mass.) driving in a run with a single and Flynn ripping a three-run triple to pull within 13-10.
- The Raptors answered again with four runs to extend the lead to 17-10.
- Back-to-back bases loaded walks pushed two runs across for the Panthers in the seventh, but Bard scored twice in the bottom of the inning for a 19-12 lead.
- Campbell blasted a two-run shot in the ninth to account for the final score.
By the Numbers:
- Flynn reached base in all six at-bats with a triple, single, two walks and two hit-by pitches. He scored three runs and drove in five.
- Campbell went 1-for-3 with two walks, a homer, four RBIs and a run scored.
- Cooley singled twice, drew a walk, scored once and drove in a run.
- This was the first meeting between the two programs.
