HARTFORD, Conn. – Juniors
Brayden Michaelson (Charlton, Mass.) and
Ryan Morgado (Brentwood, N.H.) had two hits apiece but Eastern Connecticut State University swept Plymouth State University, 9-2 and 16-1, in a Little East Conference (LEC) doubleheader at Dunkin' Park on Saturday.
Michaelson scored in the bottom of the eighth inning of game one to pull the Panthers to within 4-2, but ECSU scored five times with two outs in the top of the ninth to win the opener.
The Warriors used a big third inning in game two to build an early 11-0 lead on the way to a 16-1 win to complete the sweep.
Plymouth State falls to 1-9 (0-2 LEC), while Eastern Connecticut improves to 13-3 (4-0 LEC).

How it Happened (Game One):
- Plymouth State took a 1-0 lead in the bottom second when senior Andrew Faherty (Phoenix, Ariz.) lofted a sacrifice fly to score Morgado.
- Eastern Connecticut scored twice in the top of the fourth to rally into the lead.
- The Warriors added a two-out run in the fifth and an unearned run in the seventh to extend the lead to 4-1.
- Freshman Joey Dronzank (Hebron, Conn.) came up with a clutch two-out RBI single in the eighth to pull within 4-2.
- ECSU scored five two-out runs in the ninth to take control and PSU couldn't rally in the bottom of the inning.
By the Numbers (Game One):
- Michaelson went 2-for-3 with a run scored.
- Morgado had two hits in three at-bats and scored a run.
- Dronzank reached base twice (single, walk) and drove in a run.
- Seven of the Warriors' nine runs came with two outs.
How it Happened (Game Two):
- The Warriors plated three two-out runs in the second.
- A grand slam highlighted an eight-run third inning as ECSU extended the lead to 11-0.
- PSU loaded the bases in the third on a pair of singles and hit by pitch, but the Warriors got out of the jam.
- Eastern Connecticut added a run in the sixth.
- Senior Ray Campbell (Torrington, Conn.) doubled in a run in the bottom of the inning to cut the lead to 12-1.
- The Warriors tacked on four more two-out runs in the seventh inning to account for the final score.
By the Numbers (Game Two):
- Faherty singled and walked.
- Junior Sam Salvi (Southborough, Mass.) reached twice with a walk and hit-by-pitch.
- Campbell doubled in a run, while freshman Owen Webber (Bow, N.H.) finished 1-for-3.
