1982 PSC Football Team:  Plymouth State has the highest all-time career winning percentage in the history of NCAA Division III football, and it is widely regarded that this was the team that catapulted PSC into the national spotlight. Entering the season on a nine-game winning streak under the second-year head coach Jay Cottone, the Panthers rampaged through its 10-game schedule, going 10-0 and winning both the New England Football Conference and the prestigious Lambert Trophy signifying supremacy in Eastern College Football. PSC posted a remarkable six consecutive shutouts, scoring at least 34 points in all six games, and outscoring its opponents 414-48 over the course of the season.

The Panthers, who set more than 40 team and individual records, led the nation in pass defense (48.8), total defense (122.2) and interceptions (25), and was second in the nation in scoring offense (41.4) and scoring defense (4.8). Among the long list of individual honors received by PSC in ’82 were: Cottone was names NEFC Coach of the Year, senior linebacker Mark Barrows was selected to the Kodal All-American team, and freshman running back Joe Dudek was tabbed ECAC Rookie of the Year.
