ELAINE FLANAGAN-SWETT ('85):  One of the standouts of the Plymouth State softball teams of the early 1980s, Flanagan Swett excelled for three years on the diamond after transferring from the University of New Hampshire. She was named All-New England her junior season after earning Converse All-America honors as a sophomore in 1983, the first Plymouth State female athlete to be named All-America.

A native of Manchester, N.H., Flanagan was a third baseman and key player on the Panther teams that posted a combined record of 43-30. She helped Plymouth State to an 18-11 record in 1984, a standard for wins that stood for 10 years, and a berth in the ECAC Division III New England Tournament, the first in school history. The 1985 team finished with a 15-11 record and the championship of the ECAC New England Tournament, defeating Westfield State once and Bridgewater State twice on the final day to claim the title. It was the program's only ECAC Championship until the 2003 team duplicated the feat.

Flanagan was an outstanding defensive player, leading the team in assists in 1984 and in fielding percentage in '85. She competed for several years in summer softball leagues before hanging up her cleats in 1993.
