PATRICK MCNAMARA ('86):  A former All-American and national champion for the Panther alpine ski team, Patrick McNamara enjoyed outstanding success on the mountain during his collegiate career under coaches Bob Sampson and Tom Quimby.  He placed in the top 10 in the giant slalom at the national championships all four years from 1983-86, and captured the national title in both the slalom and combined alpine in 1985.

A native of Ridgefield, Conn., McNamara was a strong threat in every race and finished in the top two at the Eastern Regional Championships as both a junior and a senior.  He helped the Panthers to Regional team titles in 1985 and 1986, and the overall team national championship in 1985.

McNamara continued his skiing success at the Masters Nationals level, and earned Master Skier of the Year honors after winning the slalom, giant slalom and combined alpine. He also helped maintain Plymouth State Skiing’s tradition of producing coaches, as McNamara enjoyed a lengthy career coaching skiing, including more than 25 years on the mountain.
