GEORGE SOARES '91: Perhaps the greatest goaltender in PSC ice hockey history, George Soares is also one of the top goalies the Eastern University Athletic Conference has ever seen. He played between the pipes for PSC from 1982-1986, setting school records for games played and saves. He made more than 700 saves in a season three times, including his senior season when he turned away 790 shots to set an ECAC record. Soares also earned All-ECAC honors his sophomore season when he made 708 saves.

After sub-.500 seasons his first two years, Soares led PSC to a 12-10 mark as a junior and a 19-6 record as a senior, earning the team its first ECAC play-off appearance. The 19 wins were the first time any PSC team had captured 19 victories in a season, and is still the Panther hockey standard for wins in a season. Soares led the team to the ECAC finals in that year, including a thrilling victory over Fitchburg State in the semi-finals.
