GUY KENNESON ('60): One of New Hampshire’s top high school pitchers during the 1950’s Guy Kenneson decided to enroll at Plymouth Teacher’s college after graduating from Plymouth High School in 1956.

Kenneson became coach John C. Foley’s top pitcher and Plymouth’s reputation of having one of the top small college baseball programs in new England was reinforced by the success that that Panthers enjoyed and Kenneson on the mound.

The diminutive Kenneson combined natural ability with baseball smarts to set many pitching records at Plymouth, several of which still stand. His career record was an impressive 18-2, including a 6-0 mark in 1960. In 1959 his earned run average was a sparkling 0.83. He once struck out 22 batters in an extra-inning game.

Kenneson went on to pitch for several years in amateur and semi-professional leagues and was even offered a professional contract by the 1962 New York Mets. Kenneson and his family still reside in the Plymouth area and he is still putting his pitching expertise to good use. He is in the unique position of being a pitching coach for both his alma maters, Plymouth High School and Plymouth State College.
