DAVE BARRY '71:  One of the most successful coaches in the New Hampshire high school ranks, Dave Barry has achieved distinction at Sunapee High School as a physical education teacher and coach of baseball and girls’ volleyball. A P/E. major and a three-year member of the Panther lacrosse team, Barry went to Sunapee after graduating in 1971 and has been there ever since.

Barry has led the baseball team to a remarkable 323-79 record in 26 years (.803 winning percentage), including six state championships (’79, ’88, ’89, ’94, ’95, ’96) and eight overall trips to the finals. His volleyball teams have had similar success since Barry started the program, posting a 301-49 record over 20 years (.860) and two state titles (’80, ’82) in seven trips to the finals. The N.H. Coach of the Year several times in both sports, Barry received the Walter Smith Coaches Award from the Union Leader Corporation in 1997 for service to youth in athletics.
