CLARA LEMAY CROWLEY ('29):  One of the true pioneers of women’s athletics in New Hampshire, Clara Lemay Crowley played three years on the basketball team for Plymouth Normal School (1926-28), serving as team captain in 1928.

A former standout of Manchester Central High School, Mrs. Lemay Crowley also participated in tennis at PNS. She went on to be instrumental in the growth of girls’ sports in the state, officiating games all around New Hampshire and coaching several sports at numerous locations.  She coached girls’ basketball at Charlestown High School in 1929 and 1930, and at Central High School from 1931-39, where she also coached the swim team one year. Her final stint in coaching was in 1956, when she coached the girls’ basketball and volleyball teams at Epping High School. Mrs. Crowley now lives in Gilford, NH.
