TONY MARTINEZ ('01): A former power forward for the Panther men’s basketball team, Martinez was twice a First Team All-Little East Conference selection.  He was a two-time leading scorer, finishing his career third on PSU’s all-time scoring list, and still ranks fourth with 1,556 points.

A native of Barnstead, N.H. (Pittsfield H.S.), Martinez played in every game as a freshman and was the second leading scorer as a sophomore, averaging 12 points and six rebounds a contest.  He took over as a junior, leading the team with 20.5 points per game and ranking second with 8.2 rebounds, and finished in the top 20 in the nation as a senior averaging 21.6 points and 7.5 rebounds. He was named to the Little East All-Tournament Team in 2001 and earned a spot in the New England Senior All-Star game.

Martinez played under three coaches at Plymouth State (Paul Hogan, Jim Ferry and John Scheinman), leading Panther teams to four straight winning seasons and two LEC regular season co-championships.  He helped the team to a 69-39 combined record and ECAC post-season berths in 1998 and 1999.
