STEW CURRAN ('76): A standout lacrosse player for the Panthers from 1973-76, Curran was a four-year letterman and Colonial League All-Star at three different positions. He starred for the Panthers at attack, midfield and as a goalie, serving as co-captain as a senior and leading the team to a 29-17 overall record and an appearance at the 1976 NCAA Division II National Championships.

A native of Framingham, Mass. (Framingham South H.S.), Curran came to Plymouth State from Bridgton Academy (Maine), where he was an All-American midfielder. He was a leader on the offensive side his first two years before he moved to goalie to help the team, and went on to become one of the top netminders in the region, earning a spot in the prestigious East-West New England All-Star game. Curran was also a four-year member of the Panther wrestling team, and had a stint on the football squad as well.

Curran has enjoyed a successful lengthy career coaching lacrosse at the high school level.  He earned League Coach of the Year honors in successive seasons while at Cohasset (Mass.) High School, and is currently the head coach at Thayer Academy. He has been involved for many years in officiating lacrosse, and has started a number of lacrosse clubs, camps and clinics.
