PHIL ROWE ('74): A former basketball and baseball player at Plymouth State, Phil Rowe has gone on to a 40-year career as an intercollegiate coach and administrator. He served 29 years as a coach and is now in his 19th year as an administrator, including stints as six different colleges and universities in the Granite State.
A resident of Exeter, N.H., Rowe coached at Plymouth State for five years (1985-90), guiding the men’s basketball and nationally-ranked women’s soccer teams. He led the soccer team to the first four NCAA Division III Tournaments, advancing to the title game in 1986, and a five-year mark of 70-19-4. He led the basketball team to four winning seasons in five years and a record of 74-53, including the first 20-win season in the program’s history in 1988-89.
Rowe has also had men’s basketball coaching stints at New England College, Saint Anselm College, Boston University, Keene State College, the University of New Hampshire, George Washington University, and Endicott College, and held athletic administrative positions at Daniel Webster College, Wheelock College, and Newbury College. He took over as Associate Athletic Director at Saint Anselm in 2014.
